We investigate the possibility of using the time delay of high energy (TeV) photons from gamma-ray bursts and other astrophysical sources to test the existence of extra dimensions. The times of flight of radiation from astrophysical sources at cosmological distances are energy dependent. The presence of the extra dimensions also affects the luminosity distance of astrophysical sources. The time delay between photons of different energies allows one to test the energy scale of the unification between gravity and the other interactions. Thus, from the study of the time delay between TeV and X-ray photons emitted by the TeV blazars Mrk 421 and Mrk 501 we obtain, in the framework of the linear model, the restriction E_K≥ 1015 GeV on the fundamental energy unification scale E_K. The combination of gamma-ray burst data with the supernova type Ia data and blazars data could give very powerful cosmological constraints on the existence and size of the extra dimensions.
