We propose to take sensitive 12-mm ATCA observations of four post-AGB stars and measure circular polarisation in the water maser emission at 22 GHz. The Zeeman effect at 22 GHz is very weak but if detected, provides a measurement of the magnetic fields through Zeeman splitting. For one post-AGB star, W43A, the water masers are found to be in a high-velocity jet which appears to be magnetically collimated. We propose to look for polarisation from a larger sample of stars to further investigate whether jets and outflows from post-AGB stars are shaped by the magnetic fields. This experiment would also provide an interesting test of the 12-mm polarisation capabilities of the Compact Array.
