Formaldehyde polymers in comets; comets, ice ages, and ecological catastrophes; interstellar grains; comets as a vehicle for panspermia; infrared spectroscopy over the 2.9 to 3.9 micron waveband in biochemistry and astronomy; organo-siliceous biomolecules and the infrared spectrum of Trapezium nebula; dust grains in the comas of comets Cernis and Bowell; Halley's comet; and the biochemistry of the origins of life on Earth are discussed.
