We present direct evidence for previously undetected large scale diffuse emission associated with Abell 3571. Evidence for extended emission around Abell clusters have been found using cross-correlation techniques, but this is the first time that direct evidence for such emission has been found. Using RXTE scanning data we found an enhancement which extends about a degree from the center of the cluster. The emission is well resolved with the instrument, and at large radii it exceeds previously observed diffuse emission associated with clusters described by a beta model. If similar large scale diffuse emission is associated with other clusters and is due to diffuse gas, it would have important implications to our structure formation theories, and it would contribute to the average baryon budget of the Universe.
