The interplanetary environments and the upper atmospheres of close-in planets are governed by the planetary magnetic field and the stellar wind. The ability of the planetary field to shield the planetary atmosphere from erosion by both the stellar wind and Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) is crucial for the planet to sustain life. We carry out a 3D MHD numerical simulations of the interplanetary environment of close-in exoplanet. This includes numerical simulation of a space weather event on such planet. Due to the planetary close orbit, the simulation reveals a CME-magnetosphere interaction, which is completely different then such interactions in the solar system. We discuss the main differences and their consequences. We also characterize the planetary magnetic field, necessary to shield the planet from erosion by the CME.
