The first Chandra results from grating observations of Seyfert galaxies have provided exciting new insight into physical conditions of circumnuclear material in AGN. A brief historical summary of X-ray spectroscopy of AGN will be presented, and new Chandra results will be reviewed and discussed. Particular emphasis will be placed on the differences between Broad-Line and Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies. In addition, preliminary new X-ray results will be presented from two major multi-waveband campaigns which monitored the Narrow-Line Seyfert 1s, TonS180 and Ark 564. This work was supported by LTSA NAG 5-7385.
