Comet C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp) has been observed in IR after perihelion, when its heliocentric distance was about 6 AU. The main aim of the observations was to detect water ice in the comet coma, as was already done before perihelion (Davies et al., 1997, Icarus, 127, 238). The observations, performed on August 1998 with the ESO NTT telescope equipped with the SOFI focal plane instrument, consisted of broad band (J, H, and K), narrow band (1.644, 2.059 and 2.248 μm ), polarimetric and low resolution spectroscopic observations. The data analysis of the collected data was difficult due to the presence of numerous bright background stars. We will present the procedure used for data reduction and we will discuss the results. We will show the data relevant to the ice halo. We will also give results of an outburst detected during the last night of observation.
