A significant excess of very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray emission is observed by H.E.S.S. inside the shell of SNR G284.3--1.8. This source is found to be point-like or only slightly extended and at a distance of 0.33d from PSR J1016-5857. A 1.8 ks Einstein observation reveal a significant excess compatible with the VHE source. This association suggests that this could be the actual PWN of MSH 10-53. The estimated flux suggests that this object should be easily detectable by XMM-Newton.
