By analyzing and generalizing published experimental data, it is shown that: (1) the locations of sources of eruptive flows on the sun and of related flares are displaced with respect to each other by an angle of 20-40 deg on average; (2) there is not sufficient justification to believe that there exist eruptive flows unassociated with either flares or active filaments ; and (3) eruptive flows have a fundamentally different nature as compared to quasi-stationary fast-speed flows originating from coronal holes (CH). The hypothesis is suggested, according to which eruptive flows are produced at locations of jump-like large-scale increases in portions of CH boundaries.
