Using the age and distance estimates for the neutron star Geminga, as well as its measured proper motion, we examine the possible space motions of Geminga in an attempt to determine the origin of its progenitor star. As argued by Frisch (1993), we also find that Geminga's progenitor was quite likely a member of the Orion association. In addition, we suggest that the progenitor star may have been ejected from the Orion association before its supernova explosion, as an OB runaway star in which case the supernova could have occurred some distance away from the association. We also point out that if the supernova occurred in the association itself, the most likely region might be within the lambda Ori association.
