Electron density profiles obtained using radio-occultation from the "Venera" spacecraft and direct measurements onboard the "Pioneer-Venus" space vehicle are compared. A systematic difference between profiles dating back to different years is noted and attributed to changing conditions of interaction of the upper ionosphere with the solar wind. Data on solar wind and ionospheric pressures are analyzed for periods of high and low solar activity. In order to explain the observed difference in the location of the ionopause for the data from the "Venera" and "Pioneer-Venus" spacecraft, the gas-dynamical model of interaction of the ionosphere with the solar wind is discussed and calculations are performed on the dependence of the ionopause altitude on solar zenith angle at different solar wind pressures and different levels of solar activity. It is necessary to take into account induced magnetic field effects in the ionization balance equations in order to explain the electron density profiles in the upper ionosphere.
