The role of relativistic effects in the radiative transfer equation and the condition of radiative equilibrium is studied for supernova photospheres. It is found that these effects change significantly the equilibrium temperature stratification and the emergent spectra so that in abundance determinations errors up to about one order of magnitude may occur if they are neglected.
