Simultaneous rotation in the polarization position angles at centimeter and optical wavelengths at the rate about 2 deg to 2.5 deg/yr is found between two major outbursts in 1971-72 and 1983 in OJ287. A similar trend is visible in the optical region after the year 1983 and also in the radio in the new observations during the autumn of 1989. One new explanation for the apparent rotation is a precessing jet pointing almost directly towards the earth. The estimated period of this precession is as short as about 150 yr. Another explanation for this phenomenon would be that the proportion of the shocked synchrotron radiation to the total flux has diminished between these years. This model can also explain the polarization behavior of OJ287 after the 1983 ouburst which is explained by a two separate synchrotron component model.
