The authors present the results of an X-ray investigation of two nearby spiral galaxies, NGC 2903 and NGC 4569. Observations with the ROSAT PSPC detector show extended X-ray emission from the nuclei and from the disks of both galaxies. The total amount of soft X-ray emission can be solely explained with ongoing starburst activity. A part of the X-ray emission originate from a region outside the disk and could be associated with hot gas from the halo of these galaxies.
