The X-ray features of Cyg A coincident with the radio/optical core and radio hotspots have been analyzed by Harris et al. (1994, 1995). The authors discuss the "cavities" in the projected X-ray surface brightness caused by the radio lobes and the excess emission from shocked intracluster medium (ICM) between the lobes and the bow shock. The data are compared to a simple analytical model and to 3D numerical simulations.
