The authors report results from an analysis of ROSAT data of a sample of 17 nearby, isolated spirals, covering a wide range in activity and inclination. This uniform and rigorous analysis has, in each case, attempted to separate the point sources from the underlying diffuse emission, found to be consistent with hot ((1-8)×106K) gas. Many interesting results regarding the production of diffuse emission, the correlations between luminosities in different wavebands, and the X-ray properties of point sources within nearby galaxies, are presented.
