Black Holes (Astronomy), Kerr Effects
Scientific paper
The final shape of a Kerr black hole is investigated analytically, applying spin-coefficient notation to a space-time with a horizon assumed to be a null hypersurface of topology S2 x R. An intrinsic coordinate-free characterization is obtained, and it is pointed out that, since the axisymmetric surface of the black hole cannot be embedded in three-dimensional Euclidean space, the hypothesis that the black hole is metrically a spheroid is incorrect.
