Dwarf Novae: X Rays, White Dwarfs: Accretion Disks, White Dwarfs: Stellar Coronae

Scientific paper

The formation of a hot corona above the underlying cool accretion disk leads to an evaporation of the inner disk around the white dwarf. The mass flow via the corona is of order 10-11Msun/y. X-rays originate mainly from the dense thermal boundary layer around the white dwarf and partially from the lower corona above the disk. The authors determine the spectrum of the radiation.
