X-Ray Pulsars: X-Ray Binaries
Scientific paper
The authors review the observational results on some peculiar X-ray pulsars with spin period in the 5-10 s range. These pulsars have many similarities, and it has been proposed that they are members of a subclass of low mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) characterized by lower luminosities (a few 1035erg s-1), higher neutron star magnetic fields (a few 1011G), and possibly smaller ages than non-pulsating LMXBs.
