Globular Clusters: X-Ray Bursters, Globular Clusters: Radio Radiation
Scientific paper
Terzan 1 and Terzan 2 are the only two globular clusters from which emission in the hard X-ray band (E > 40 keV) has been reported. The authors have discovered two possible radio sources near the cluster center, and detected with ROSAT a soft X-ray source compatible in position and flux with the previously known X-ray burster XB 1724-308. No other soft X-ray source is visible within 3'5 from the cluster center and within the error box of the hard X-ray source discovered with the SIGMA/GRANAT coded mask γ-ray telescope. Therefore, it is very likely that the X-ray burster was responsible for the time variable high-energy emission observed with SIGMA.
