ROSAT has performed a spatially unbiased flux-limited All-Sky Survey. X-ray data of late-type pre-main sequence T Tauri stars (TTS) are presented with particular emphasis on the Taurus-Auriga T association, a well-studied near-by region with ongoing low mass star formation. While classical TTS (cTTS) usually are detected by their strong Hα and IR-excess emission, most weak-line TTS (wTTS) have originally been discovered by X-ray observations. The Taurus-Auriga association contains ≡150 TTS known prior to the ROSAT mission. Correlations between X-ray emission and several other stellar parameters as well as luminosity functions can be studied on a large data base. By applying a multi-parameter discrimination analysis on the large ROSAT data base, one can pre-select TTS candidates. Almost 102 new wTTS have already been identified in central parts of the Taurus clouds. Similar numbers can be reported for Orion, Chamaeleon, Lupus, and Sco-Cen. New TTS have also been discovered far away from star forming cloud cores.
