AM-4 is found to be a very low-luminosity (Mv ≡ +0.2 mag) and (probably) low-metallicity globular cluster. Its brightest stars are those in the vicinity of the main-sequence turnoff at V ≡ 21.0 mag. Its total mass is almost certainly less than 1000 M_sun;. The cluster probably lies between 25 and 35 kpc from the Sun and from the Galactic center, and about 15 to 20 kpc above the Galactic plane.
