Δa-photometry for 59 stars in the classical open clusters Pleiades and Coma Berenices covering the whole spectral domain of CP 2-stars is presented. No significant peculiar Δa values could be found for those three objects for which Abt and Levato (1978) claim spectroscopic indications of CP 2-type. The outstanding finding of this investigation is a strongly variable positive (= CP 2-type) Δa-index in the case of the well known shell star Pleione in a time interval of nearly two years. Coma Berenices is unreddened and served therefore as reference for the normality line in the Δa-photometry. Both well known CP 2-stars, 17 Com and 21 Com are confirmed, one metallic line star (Tr 62) shows a Δa-index at the detection limit for CP 2-stars. The other metallic line stars show normal behaviour in the Δa-index. One spectroscopically detected CP 2 nonmember star (Tr 166 = HD 109030) in the area of the cluster has been confirmed by its Δa-index as peculiar.
