Various approaches to the analysis of polarimetric data related to Be star variability and the fitting of a model involving a scattering globule or enhanced polarigenic region are presented. The analyses can be performed to cover various stochastic conditions and apparent periodic effects such as might occur if the enhanced polarigenic regions were corotating with the star. Quantitative tests which allow statistical significance to be derived are emphasized. Some of the preliminary procedures are applicable to any polarimetric data, particularly those which investigate the separation of the intrinsic polarization from the contamination of interstellar components and those which search for eigendirections, allowing a preferred stellar axis to be determined.
