Scientific paper

The authors have searched toward ζ Ophiuchi for interstellar absorption from the R11(0) line in the A3Π - X3Σ-(0-0) band of SH+ at a wavelength of 3363.49 Å in a new observational test of recent magnetohydrodynamical shock models. They have derived a low upper limit to the equivalent width of this line, Wλ(3σ) = 0.64 mÅ, and discuss the implications of this result.
