Ground based, aircraft, and satellite measurements of stratospheric NO2 have been compared in order to determine the long term temporal trend in the column amount. Although observations at 40 deg and 70 deg latitude from both hemispheres indicate a consistent annual cycle, no long term trend is noted for the 1975-1986 period. At 40 deg latitude the satellite derived columns are consistently about 60 percent of the ground/aircraft values for winter and summer, and at 70 deg the maxima of the columns above 24 km are about 60 percent of the maxima of the columns above 12 km.
