The spectra of four M giants have been observed in the infrared K band with the Fourier Transform Spectrometer at the Canada-France Hawaii telescope. The frequencies at line bottom of the lines of Fe I, Ca I, and the first overtone band of CO are measured. Calibration with accurate laboratory frequencies makes it possible to measure a blushift of the high excitation energy lines of iron with respect to the low-energy lines of CO, in the range from 0 to 6 eV. In one of the stars, a velocity gradient is also observed among the lines of CO. This differential blushift is interpreted as being caused by the convective overshoot into the reversing layer. The observed blueshift appears to be 5-10 times larger than in the sun, on average, although there are substantial variations from star to star.
