The SWIT catalogue contains 74 significantly disturbed space weather intervals in 1997-2000. The intervals were selected as follows: sufficiently strong perturbations were recorded during these intervals in main parts of the solar-terrestrial “connection chain”, i.e. solar events, interplanetary disturbances, geomagnetic perturbations, technological and biological effects were reported. Different parts of the solar-terrestrial chain are characterized by solar X-ray flares, solar and galactic cosmic ray variations (enhancements of solar energetic particles, Forbush effects), geo-effective solar wind structures (CME, CIR, fast solar wind from coronal holes), geosynchronous magnetopause crossings, geomagnetic indices (Dst, Kp, Ap, PC), relativistic electron fluxes in the outer magnetosphere, radiation doses and data failures in the equipment onboard the MIR station, and DB-index provided by the IMAGE magnetometer network as a relevant indicator of GIC activity. Different models are applied for the description of the dynamics and a posteriori prediction of different kinds of the space weather effects presented in the selected SWIT intervals. The models include various input parameters of the solar and galactic cosmic rays, solar wind plasma, interplanetary magnetic field as well as geomagnetic indices. Verification of empirical models with different input parameters is performed when comparing predictions and observations of the space weather disturbances.
