Because of the necessity of correcting for absorption when estimating the total face-on blue apparent magnitude for spiral galaxies, the infrared Tully-Fisher relation was investigated in order to obtain the absolute magnitudes, and hence distances, to spiral galaxies with detectable hydrogen. The relationship of total face-on blue absolute magnitudes to absolute infrared, or H-magnitudes, is described. Using truncated blue magnitudes, the color-magnitude plane is investigated as a distance indicator. The existence of an infrared (B-H, H) color-absolute magnitude relation for a sample of disk galaxies of various morphological types is shown and its use as a distance indicator suggested. The question of morphological type dependence is discussed.
