Photometry and spectrometry information has been collected on supernova
1987A from September 1988 through April 1989. The data show the
beginning of the next stage in the development of the supernova remnant.
This stage apparently began on the 640th day after the explosion and is
characterized by an exponential brightness decline with tau = 73 exp d.
