A US-French satellite launch in October 2000. Its prime objective is to
carry out a multiwavelength study of gamma ray bursts with ultraviolet,
x-ray and gamma ray instruments. It will be able to localize bursts to
within several arcseconds. The first HETE was lost due to a Pegasus
launch failure in 1996....
