The polarization of vacuum in the field of a black hole can be characterized by the effective temperature. In this paper, an expression is obtained for the temperature of a spherically symmetric uncharged black hole using Mamaev and Trunov's (1981) general method for determining the effective temperature of vacuum in external fields, based on the investigation of the local properties of the Green function
