Titan has an atmosphere consisting mainly of molecular nitrogen and methane. Solar extreme ultraviolet and x-ray radiation and energetic electrons from Saturn's magnetosphere interact with the upper atmosphere producing an ionosphere. We will review our current understanding of Titan's ionosphere and will emphasize the role of photoelectrons in the ionosphere. We will present results from a superthermal electron model which includes Auger electrons produced by K-shell ionization processes. Auger electrons were observed in the Martian ionosphere by the electron reflectometer instrument onboard the Mars Global Surveyor. We will compare the ionospheres of Mars and Titan and, in particular, we will compare energy spectra of superthermal electrons for both objects. Both Mars and Titan act as obstacles to the external plasma flow and this will also be discussed.
