Photometric observations made between 1977 and 1981 are reported. The period of AM Leo did not change over the last 20 years. Light curve variability is found to significantly affect the depths and shapes of the minima. The effects of the complications on broadband and narrow-band color indices are analyzed. Because of the complications, element determination of AM 1 Leo are seen to be reliable only with restrictions. Certain features, such as the slope of the central part of the primary eclipse, are found to be moderately long-lived. Differences in maximum brightness become much more visible in spectral indices sensitive to changes in the continuum energy distribution than in line strengths.
