The effect of azimuthal magnetic field is examined in the case of a self-similar piston problem when radiation effects are already implicitly present. The total energy of the flow between the shock and the piston is assumed to be dependent on time obeying a power law, and the shock is assumed to advance into a conducting gas of spatially decreasing magnetic field. The magnetic field is replaced by an idealized field so that lines of force lie on hemispheres with the center as the point of explosion.
