A method is presented to classify digitalized stellar spectra of normal stars of spectral classes B-K with respect to spectral class and absolute luminosity. The spectral class can be calculated with a mean error of 0.7 subclasses, but only the luminosities of B- and A-stars of classes V-III can be calculated with fair accuracy, while for the later spectral types more work with better standard spectra is necessary.
