Absolute transition probabilities and oscillator strengths are estimated for the electronic bands of CS(+) systems. Franck-Condon factors, r-centroids, band origins, transition probabilities, band oscillator strengths, and positions of electronic bandheads observed in the laboratory and tentatively identified in comets are shown. On the basis of gas phase chemistry, some of the important channels for the formation of the CS(+) molecule in comets are discussed. A possible mode of formation of the ion is photoionization of CS through energetic solar photons.
