Thirty-five-supernovae have been discovered up to May 1989 in 28 galaxies with active nuclei, of which 14 are Seyferts and 14 are LINERs. The frequency of supernovae in the host galaxies of AGNs, computed from the material of the Asiago Supernova Search, does not differ significantly from the corresponding value of normal galaxies, indicating that active and normal galaxies of the same morphological type have similar stellar populations, at least, as far as the SN progenitors are concerned. The radial distribution of type Ib and II events in active galaxies shows a higher concentration toward the center with respect to normal galaxies, indicating an enhanced SFR around the nucleus. The distributions of SNeIa appear to be similar in both samples, confirming that their progenitors are not the same as those of SNeII and SNeIb.
