Scientific paper

We discuss some of the astrophysical problems in which Alfvén
waves can play an important role. The problems that we focus in are: (i)
Alfvén waves in stellar winds; (ii) formation of extragalactic
jets by Alfvén waves, and (iii) formation of quasar clouds by a
thermal instability and Alfvén waves.
