We obtained low resolution spectra of the optical nova candidate N2009-09a in M31 (RA=00 42 26.08, Dec=+41 04 01.0, J2000) discovered by Koichi Nishiyama and Fujio Kabashima, http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/CBAT_M31.html#2009-09a , on CCD frames taken around Sept. 3.752. In ATEL#2189 M.Henze et al. constrained the time of outburst of this optical nova candidate in M31 by date 2009 September 2.078 with a magnitude of 17.8.
