We study the possible correlation of a selected sample of 340 gamma-ray bursts that can be localized to <=7 deg2 with different subdivisions of the Véron & Véron-Cetty compilation of quasars-AGNs. The intention is to confirm whether the bursts are related to radio-quiet quasars as it was claimed by Schartel et al., who found a 96.4% confidence level correlation between radio-quiet quasars and a subsample of 134 events from the BATSE 3B catalogue. We find a 90% correlation between polygonal GRBs (IPN GRBs) and radio-quiet quasars, however the correlation vanishes for circular GRBs (BeppoSAX and WATCH GRBs). On the other hand, a 97.6% correlation is found between BL lac objects and circular GRBs. We discuss the possible connection between the results of this study and those obtained by Schartel et al. 1996.
