COMPTEL has detected strong 3 to 7 MeV γ-ray emission from the Orion complex with no significant evidence for emission outside this range. We show that measurements of the diffuse X-ray emission from Orion can constrain the sources of the γ-ray emission, if the excess is due to γ-ray lines produced by low-energy cosmic ray nuclei. We also discuss an interpretation of the excess as continuum bremsstrahlung emission of relativistic electrons.
