Low-frequency radio absorption studies provide an interesting probe of both physical conditions in high redshift galaxies, and possible evolution in the fundamental constants. In this article, I review our recent results from such studies, focussing on H I 21cm absorption observations of high-z damped Lyman-α systems towards radio-loud quasars, and conjugate OH~18cm satellite line observations that have yielded strong constraints on changes in multiple fundamental constants.
