While doing photometry of an asteroid, GSC 1839-78 was selected as a compar- ison star. It was checked to make sure it was not a variable, and it showed a large drop in magnitude during the night. Light curves were obtained unfil- tered and with V and R filters and indicate that GSC 1839-78 in Taurus is a W Ursae Majoris eclipsing binary, having a .3975833 day period (9.542 hours). Physical parameters by modeling indicate an inclination of 72 degrees and a Mass Ratio of 2.20.
