We summarize the results from three on-going projects to study high-redshift galaxies: (1) Deep surveys of z>4 QSO fields, (2) Near-IR spectroscopy of 1.34 galaxies are searched for based on the expected UV spectral characteristics (strong Lyα emission and a sharp Lyman continuum break) while in the second we try to derive the properties of galaxies (e.g., star formation rates) based solely on the restframe optical emission lines, bypassing completely the uncertainties associated with the UV spectra. In the third, we show that in some cases neither the restframe UV nor the restframe optical alone can give us enough information to understand these objects, and that it could be completely misleading to rely solely on information from one band.
