The presently discussed observations of the tenuous sodium atmosphere of
Mercury indicate the presence of suprathermal sodium at a temperature of
several thousand C. A connection is made between these data for Mercury
and those already established for the lunar tenuous atmosphere, which is
also composed of sodium.
