A statistical analysis of 3941 QSOs in three tables given by Hewitt and Burbidge (1987, 1989) has been carried out, finding considerable absorption lines in the z(em) range of 1.4-3.2 and their marked increase in the z(em) interval of 1.8-2.4. Absorption redshifts z(ab) greater than z(em) occur in the z(em) range of 1.4-2.8. This shows that the activities of QSOs are enhanced in the z(em) interval of 1.8-2.2. This seems to reflect the evolution of QSOs with the interaction of their environment.
