The investigation of the magnetic field strengths in solar microwave burst regions is briefly reviewed. Diagnostic errors of the magnetic field strength B are analyzed. In previous calculations, B depends only on two parameters of the optically thin part of the microwave burst spectrum, i.e., nup and beta. This is based on Dulk and Marsh's simplified expression for the maximum frequency of the radio microwave burst spectrum. Although the accidental error of B is merely +/-8 percent, the value of B may be underestimated systematically threefold. This is because the value of the electron column density, NL, given by the hard X-ray data can be overestimated by 10 times. Furthermore, the influence of Tb on B is not considered in the two-parameter method. So the uncertain error of B is about +/-5 times. Recently, we have presented a new method in which B depends on a complete set of spectral parameters (nup, beta, and Tb-nu), and we call it the three-parameter method. The evaluated precision of B reaches +/-48 percent in the case of gyrosynchrotron radiation.
