We present the progress of an ongoing program to obtain and understand moderate resolution (R ≥ 1500) near-infrared spectroscopy for all CV subtypes. In general, pre-CV, magnetic, and short period systems appear normal and do not harbour any surprises. Long period systems, however, show weak or absent K-band CO lines which we interpret as a deficit of C. To fully assess these data, we compute synthetic spectra using either PHOENIX or MOOG at varying abundance patterns. We present preliminary results of this observation and modelling program.
