A periodic rotating gravitational force will produce purely hydrodynamic flow fields on the outside and inside of rotating spheres in the laboratory which are compatible with the observable banded atmospheric structure of Jupiter, Venus, and possibly other planets, and the apparent motions of lithospheric plates on the surface of the earth. Thermal gradients are not required to produce convective flow in this system.
